About John C. Kikrland
John C. Kirkland has extensive expertise in corporate and securities matters. As a corporate counselor Mr. Kirkland has been retained to represent public companies, entrepreneurs and private equity funds in billions of dollars of public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, many of which include novel structures and unique features. He handles public company reporting, negotiated and contested mergers and acquisitions, proxy contests, tender offers and going private transactions. Mr. Kirkland structures companies, partnerships and joint ventures to acquire, finance and develop assets and intellectual property. His practice also includes the representation of corporate boards and audit, compensation, and special committees in connection with corporate governance, securities compliance matters, and SEC investigations. Mr. Kirkland's industry experience includes aerospace, defense, international trade, media, entertainment, energy, technology, healthcare and life sciences. In addition to being a best-selling author, he lectures, writes articles and is frequently quoted on securities law topics. Mr. Kirkland has been repeatedly listed in Who’s Who in American Law and Southern California Super Lawyers. He was previously a partner at Greenberg Traurig LLP, and began his legal career at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft LLP. Mr. Kirkland received his B.A. from Columbia University and his J.D. from UCLA School of Law.
